Bayntun Flowers Creative Residency
Drawing Historic Tulips in West Wiltshire, England- April 2023
UPDATE: I’m in the process of printing and developing the etched images that I drew this past April. I will be posting new images on Instagram as they come out and designing a boxed folio to debut at the CODEX Book Fair this February 2024.
……………….
This past April I did a creative residency at Bayntun Flowers in south-western England drawing historic tulips! Polly Nicholson, an organic grower of rare and unusual flowers, holds the National Collection of Historic Tulips with over 75 cultivars dating back to the 16th century at her garden at Blackland Park.
I spent ten days studying, drawing, and painting their flowers- both tulips and other exquisite specimens. My goal is to create a boxed, limited-edition suite of hand-colored etchings. I worked on site directly on copper plates and and am etching and print the plates currently.
