Art Bellwald
I spent August and September 2017 at an artist residency in Bellwald, Switzerland with my family. I spent two months drawing landscapes and plant studies. The landscapes were done from high viewpoints accessed by lifts and hiking. I used large rolls of sized and dyed Japanese paper, and drew with ink and a folded nib dip pen. I laid the paper on the ground, preferably on rock but sometimes on moss and heather, weighing the corners down with rocks.
The plants were drawn from life from what I found in the area. Together they create a sense of the region.
